JEWELRY AFFILIATIONS
To keep Wilson & Son Jewelers up-to-date on industry standards and developments, we are active members of the following jewelry affiliations:
Only 1 in 20 jewelers have met the exacting requirements necessary for membership. To join the American Gem Society, every member must go through a peer-reviewed application process followed by an annual re-certification exam. This process ensures that every American Gem Society member you meet is at the top of their game, and more importantly, each one has pledged to protect you, the consumer.
Established in 1931, GIA is the world’s largest and most respected nonprofit institute of gemological research and learning. GIA discovers (through GIA Research), imparts (through GIA Education), and applies (through the GIA laboratory and GIA Instruments) gemological knowledge to the public. With 1,200 employees, the Institute’s scientists, diamond graders, and educators are regarded as the world’s foremost authorities in gemology.
Jewelers Vigilance Committee(JVC)
Members receive a free education of the complex laws that apply to the manufacturing, advertising and sale of jewelry. The JVC is available to Wilson & Son to answer questions about how to apply those laws to everyday business practices. The JVC provides up-to-the-minute information about changes in the national and local laws that apply to the jewelry business.
This affiliation keeps us aware of ongoing security threats as well as helpful tips and trends with regards to safekeeping and insuring jewelry.
With a mission to increase consumer confidence in the jewelry industry, Jewelers of America advocates professionalism and adherence to high ethical, social and environmental standards. Jewelers of America’s Code of Professional Practices and position statements on issues of importance to consumers illustrate our deep commitment to responsible business practices in the retail jewelry industry.
